Mexican Government Seeks to Harass Foes of Illegal Immigration
At a conference of Mexican diplomats, held in Mexico City in January, Mexican President Felipe Calderon insisted that the United States give amnesty to illegal aliens and stop building a border fence. He called on Mexican ambassadors and consuls to protect "the rights" of Mexicans abroad.
To advance this agenda, the conference decided on the following strategy, as reported by the Mexican newspaper La Jornada 1/8/08, "Facing the fact that the migratory reform [i.e., amnesty] 'failed' and the principle culprit is the 'U.S. Congress,' the government of Mexico will impel a 'new strategy' of 'zero tolerance' of violations of the rights of our fellow Mexicans in the U.S. This will consist of an increase in the number of consuls — up to 50 — and the budget, as well as adopting strong action — to force those who abuse the undocumented [i.e., illegal aliens] to 'pay the cost in court.' "
Alan Wall, a columnist for V-dare.com described this as a plan "to use the [U.S.] court system . . . to harass Americans who are fighting illegal immigration to make it so costly that they give up and surrender." Ruben Beltram, the Mexican consul in New York who coined the term "zero tolerance," also proposed "strategic alliances with [U.S.] unions, civil organizations and churches to construct a pro-Hispanic, pro-migrant and pro-human rights agenda . . . ."
McCain Campaign Has Radical Outreach Director
The "Hispanic outreach director" of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign is Juan Hernandez, a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico. In 2000, Mexican President Vicente Fox appointed Hernandez to head the newly-created cabinet-level Presidential Office of Mexicans Living Abroad.
Interviewed on Nightline in 2001, he spoke against the assimilation of Mexican immigrants in the United States. Said Hernandez, "I want the third generation, the seventh generation, I want them all to think 'Mexico first.' "
In 2003 Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) recounted a conversation he had with Hernandez. (WorldNetDaily 2003 article by Paula Kaufman) He told Tancredo that his government "supported[ed] amnesty [for illegal aliens] totally." When the Colorado lawmaker asked why, Hernandez replied, "By populating the United States with millions of Hispanics who are tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico, we are able to exert enormous influence and pressure on U.S. policy and its dealings with Mexico."

When asked about Hernandez's views, the McCain campaign spokesman Brian Rogers replied that he was "a non-paid volunteer to the campaign, and he does not play a policy role. Juan works with us to reach out to the Hispanic community. . . ." Source: WorldNetDaily 1/25/08
