AIC sources in Washington report that Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is plotting to spring the "Dream Act" (S. 774) on the Senate some time in November in hope of gaining speedy passage before Thanksgiving. The measure is an amnesty which would legalize (and grant a path to citizenship) to as many as one-million illegal aliens.
Confirming our sources is the National Immigration Forum, a group favoring amnesty and mass immigration. After pro-amnesty senators were unable to move the Dream Act by attaching it to the Department of Defense authorization bill, the forum announced it would come up again "in mid-November when the Majority Leader intends to set aside time for its debate."
The forum also revealed the following strategy: With the failure of the amnesty for 10 million or more illegal aliens last June, try to pass amnesty in smaller packages like the Dream Act.
Comment: Like all amnesty proposals, the so-called Dream Act would reward lawbreaking and thus encourage more of it. Currently, the USCIS, the agency administering immigration, lacks the resources to determine whether Dream Act applicants actually meet its requirements to obtain amnesty-thus leaving the door wide open to fraud. Tell your senators to vote against S. 774!
