John Vinson, Editor AIC March 2008 Americans have a special place in their hearts for The Three Stooges, a trio of comedians who went by the names Moe, Larry, and Curly. They specialized in hilarious slapstick antics, often involving fights. In a typical session, Moe would bonk Larry on the head and twist Curley's nose, after which the two victims would kick Moe in the behind. Nevertheless, it was all good fun, and by the end of the episode, the threesome would always come together good friends and fellow stooges. Today we have a new edition of The Three Stooges on the national stage, the three leading contenders for the presidency, Moe McCain, Larry Obama, and Curly Clinton. But these stooges, unlike their namesakes, aren't clever at all, particularly with respect to immigration policy. All three were members of the Senate gang that tried to legalize ten or so million illegal aliens last summer, while hoodwinking citizens into thinking that this was some kind of beneficial reform. Fortunately, the citizens weren't fooled, and they rose up and delivered swift bottom-bound kicks to these senators and their colleagues. In one respect, though, our present stooges are quite similar to their predecessors with their staged combat, throwing charges at each other and questioning one another's qualification for office. But in the end, we can be sure that they will come together as friends. After all, they are all stooges of the very same interests, namely, the businesses seeking cheap labor that contribute to their campaigns; the political interests wanting immigrants' votes; and the multicultural establishment that yearns to blend America into One World. To get an idea of what they are still up to, let's take a look at the three. Moe McCain now pretends that he has "gotten the message" and while he still favors amnesty, he won't push it again until we have our border under control. He thinks he's fooling people, and to a large degree he is. But his insincerity is plain to anyone who takes more than a second look. His reluctant support for border control, demanded by the public, is obvious in his comment that "I'll build the G-dd--n fence if they want it." Most misleading is his suggestion that border control is the key to the whole problem. A salient fact to understand is that 40 percent of illegal aliens didn't come here by illegally crossing the border. They came with visas and illegally overstayed those visas. With all his focus on immigration, Moe McCain surely must be aware that effective internal enforcement, not border control, is the only effective way to deal with this group. If he knows, he just doesn't care-and hopes no one will notice. More evidence of his duplicity is Juan Hernandez, the McCain campaign's "director of Hispanic outreach." Hernandez, an open borders zealot, is a dual U.S.-Mexican citizen who once served as a cabinet officer in the government of Mexican President Vicente Fox. McCain knows the concerns about Hernandez, but still keeps him on the campaign staff. Larry Obama makes no bones about supporting amnesty. When illegal aliens were staging mass marches across the country to pressure our Congress, Obama was marching with them shoulder to shoulder in one of the parades. He opposed legislation to crack down on the "sanctuary cities" that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration law enforcement. Obama also maintains that as president he might call off completely the sporadic raids now conducted against businesses that hire illegals. Larry Obama bills himself as the candidate of "hope." Be that as it may, his stance on illegal immigration is hopeless to the extreme. Curly Clinton is yet another unrepentant amnesty advocate, a sanctuary city supporter, and a skeptic of workplace enforcement. She faces a stiff race with Obama, but one should never underestimate the tenacity of a person who has craved the presidency for decades. She may yet claw her way to the Oval Office. As we move toward the November elections, the Establishment media will do all they can to showcase the Stooges and draw our attention to them. Patriotic Americans would be better advised to turn off that programming, and direct their attention elsewhere, specifically to House and Senate races where genuine reformers are standing for office. Forget about the race for the White House. Moe or Larry or Curly of the original Stooges would make a better president than the three contenders we have now.
